i don't hold a lot of my old writing in high regard but i went off on the technical side of things i
BITWE2031 (2018)
2018. my first attempt at making an arg and it.. shows.
i worked with a friend for this one! we don't really talk anymore but i hope he's living his best life.
it was not very well planned out i was kind of just pulling plot points out of my ass as i went along.
BITWE was originally about
kat, a frog enthusiant teenager on tumblr and
tyler, a future relative of hers thrown back from the 2040s to 2018.
a website and
myspace for a 8 year old kat and a
twitter account for a middle aged one were also created.
at some point in my bullshittery i introduced agent poppy (who's account i sadly deactivated at some point) and the rest of the wrong era collective, a time travel regulation agency trying to keep the timeline stable. tyler's situation was causing instability and poppy was trying her hardest to resolve things peacefully before her coworkers
gentain and snapdragon took the usual methods to manage anomalies with the help of the WEC's engineer (and her love interest), foxglove. my co-writer wrote fox and i don't think i had access to her accounts sadly.
a lot of the plot of this ARG occured over discord in servers neither i or the poppy account are in anymore because i've reused it for other projects.
bonus facts
- in the time since BITWE i have developed the setting a bit more to make things less.. pulled out of my ass, and there's a few extra characters who weren't around for the 2018 version. here's
something i wrote about the WEC in 2022 for my university's writing club.
- there was a dropped plot point about a haunted minion meme facebook for katherine (the older kat)
recursion (2020)
the
website for this one is pretty elaborate, if broken at the moment. the working codes for the employee ID page are 13531 and 4646, and patientzero works as a password on the file archive
a roundabout prequel to BITWE. at some point between BITWE ending and recursion starting i decided that the WEC consisted of people whos home timelines had been destroyed. recursion takes place in poppy and foxglove's original timeline, where they were named
penny and flora.
in the world of recursion, rampant overuse of time travel technology (mainly by corporations but blamed on civillians) is causing the time-space continuum to collapse in on itself. the cast are physicists at a sealed laboratory trying their hardest to reverse this before it's too late. i took a lot of inspiration from the far lands from minecraft and video game corruptions for the recursion crisis' appearance which is why penny is an avid minecraft player
while i said "before it's too late" kismet are more trying to find somewhere new for humanity to escape to. penny reached out to players to conduct a
survey about what their timeline is like to see if it's suitable.
i don't really understand the purpose of the fucked up lab rat children part nowadays. the lab was ran by the comically evil dr dahlia miro (an old oc i used to reuse very frequently who started out as a monokuma expy for a fanganronpa). dahlia claimed she was holding
dr askelson's three children hostage to keep him quiet about things he knows that he shouldn't, like the existence of a pair of mildly recursion resistant twins being kept in the deeper parts of the lab. she deliberately exposed them both to the recursion For Science leaving one sickly and frail and the other corrupted into a technopathic monster that kept altering the laboratory's website to communicate, and also
penny's screen recordings (?)
close to the end of this one i accidently dropped my laptop down the stairs and the hard drive died forcing a very long hiatus that killed off any interest people had in it ;;. i had most of it planned out though. penny would get close to finding out the facility's secrets and notice victor was acting off. miro would have victor killed and penny badly injured, then delete most of her work while she was separated from her computer. around this time M escapes her containment and miro ends up revealing her goals- to embrace the recursion's corruption as a new form of humanity. the planned ending was a discord server with mostly read only channels- "security cameras" where i would narrate what was happening in each room/channel and the players could communicate with the party over audio to guide them in escaping a recursion corrupted dr miro. i still think this is a fun idea and want to use it in something some day..
the art on the left was created as a "thank you for playing!" screen.
