(ACTING) ACTING SENIOR
Local group 068's acting senior. Not particularly suited for it, but doing her best. Sickly, timid and insecure.
Her rain cycles are inconsistent and unpredicable, and much of her grounds consist of an empty, toxic swamp. Believes the best thing she can do for her loved ones is die for them, and is slowly working her way there.

Local group 068's acting senior. Not particularly suited for it, but doing her best. Sickly, timid and insecure.
Her rain cycles are inconsistent and unpredicable, and much of her grounds consist of an empty, toxic swamp. Believes the best thing she can do for her loved ones is die for them, and is slowly working her way there.
With Decent Music's citizens had a fairly lax attitude to The Great Problem, and mostly left Muse to her work on it than worry too much themselves. Muse was fine with this- being left alone to feel somewhat useful suited her. She'd take part in local group discussions when she had to, but needed coaxing from the more confident members to really take part.
Muse's superstructure neighbors that of Three Blessings, who's government was much more pious. Blessing often took refuge from her strict caretakers in Muse's broadcast channel, and Muse was willing enough to listen to her that they became friends. When her neighbor on the opposing side to Blessing, Perpetual Catalepsy, was constructed, Muse was asked to mentor them, and the two retained a sibling-like bond.
After the Ancients departed, Muse became more withdrawn, becoming reliant on her groupmates to function socially without the structure of maintaining a city in her life. With Dusk Dawn's inactivity, Flutter in The Breeze insisted somebody take the role of acting senior and did so themselves.
With Breeze's young collapse, the position fell to Muse, who.. struggled significantly between her anxiety and her grief from losing Breeze. Three Blessings had taken to Sliverism which upset Catalepsy who wouldn't listen to Twenty Needles when they were upset, and Muse was more likely to end up getting too nervous and dropping out of the broadcast than be able to calm things.
Three Blessings wanted to share her research with her friend. She began sending carcinogenic purposed organisms to infect Muse with her own bespoke form of the Rot, weak but fast-spreading. They'd be accompanied by friendly, nochalant pearls from Blessing after Muse stopped responding to her broadcasts. At first Muse would begrudgingly kill the creature and move on, but over time was worn down enough she was more managing the infection than preventing it. She turned to purposing herself, experimenting with differing forms and attributes as her previous organisms were killed by the rot. The longest running so far has been Paladin-78, a modified slugcat that secretes cytotoxic compounds. She's trying not to get too attached to Paladin, but it isn't working.
In the long run, her efforts to defend herself aren't working, either, the repeated attacks slowly causing irrepearable damage to her systems. She doesn't remember much of the times before this
all started, these days, and focuses on little but the conflict with the energy she has unless Needle or Catalepsy are distracting her. She's fully aware she's dying, but wants to stall things out enough that she takes Blessing down with her. Muse tends to fluctate between being too unwell to function and overworking herself to compensate, her rain output fluctuating with it.
When she does make an appearance in broadcast groups, it's brief and usually ends with her abruptly leaving, making her come across as aloof and unsociable.
She gets her wish eventually, and the two iterators collapse around the same time. This too is yuri.

(This is kind of an old reference and I don't really draw the hip wings anymore, but the way her arm and cables connect is still relevant..!)
- Muse was created in March 2023, not that long after I first got into Rain World. Her initial concept was inspired by the video game Perfect Vermin, and Jacob Geller's video about it. She was more haughty and in denial than.. sad and apathetic about her situation in my early concepts from this. She was named after the song Dying With Decent Music by The Paper Chase.
- She's probably the OC with the most art on my toyhouse account.
- I've drawn anthro designs for her a few times, but none of them have really stuck. She's been assigned greyhounds and cheetahs- skinny, nervous animals.
- I briefly ran an ask blog for muse when that was trendy on Rain World Tumblr, but she wasn't really talkative enough to be the face of one -_-
- Muse has the most art uploaded to her page on Toyhouse out of any OCs I have up there, courtesy of her being the main focus of my 2023 RW brainrot
